One of our valued presenters at NEDME 2024 will be Doug Porter of designPort, a full service engineering, product development, and CAD services firm that designs new products as well as new companies. Doug will be speaking this year on maximizing return on investment with new product development, and we were pleased to get his thoughts to share with our community in advance of this year’s show.
What has been one of your favorite work projects of the last few years?
We worked on a new laparoscopic surgical system for performing hysterectomies and myomectomies.
Tell us about a change you see coming in the industry, and a way in which companies should be positioned to meet it.
Artificial intelligence is going to make it easier and less expensive for people to continuously refine their strategic marketing and new product development plans. The traditional “5-year” plan is a thing of the past.
What is one thing that you hope people will take away from your presentation?
Regular new product development planning can accelerate the growth of hard durable goods companies and it doesn’t have to take a lot of time or be difficult.
Why should folks attend NEDME 2024?
It is a great place to learn how other NW companies are using the latest tech and be able to meet potential local suppliers in person.
